Comments

The original cover for this album initiated some controversy from conservative record stores and political action groups. They tried to pressure Warner Bros. Records into changing the artwork, but the band would not allow it. Instead, a compromise was met that allowed production of this version as well as the Amendment version, which contained an alternate cover for those who found this cover offensive (see images). Initial pressings of this album came with a booklet titled "Novena" that contained the album's liner notes. The CD itself had a different labeling; a "J" and "A" were printed on alternate sides of the disc in addition to the band's entire name and the title. A later pressing had this same CD face, but the Novena book was no longer separate and was incorporated into the cover leaflet for the full liner notes. Still later pressings simply had the band's name and the title printed on the CD in the same exact font but larger than before.
