This set contains all of Death Cab for Cutie's early albums and EPs released prior to the band's signing by [l681]. Three releases in the package (You Can Play These Songs With Chords, The Stability E.P., and The Death Cab for Cutie Forbidden Love E.P.) are available for the first time on vinyl and are exclusive to this set. The box is cloth bound and numbered and includes a 12"x12" lithograph fully autographed by the band. The box set was marketed as "The Barsuk Years," but the box itself bears the title "The Barsuk Collection."

Each release is packaged individually in its own jacket, preserving each album’s original artwork. You Can Play These Songs With Cords features its original cassette artwork. Something About Airplanes features a layered vellum insert. We Have the Facts and We're Voting Yes has a die-cut jacket. The Photo Album includes the original full-size photo inserts. Transatlanticism features a twelve-page booklet.

Several of the records in this set were initially mislabeled:
-We Have The Facts And We're Voting Yes was mislabeled as You Can Play These Songs With Chords.
