Wish You Were Here er det niende studioalbumet fra Pink Floyd, utgitt 12. september 1975. Albumet inneholder blant annet to av bandets mest kjente låter, «Shine On You Crazy Diamond» og tittelsporet «Wish You Were Here». Albumet har to overordnede temaer, det å forsvinne fra omverdenen på grunn av mentale lidelser, samt kritikk av musikkbransjen. Temaet mentale lidelser er særlig fremhevet i låten «Shine On You Crazy Diamond», en hyllest til det tidligere bandmedlemmet Syd Barrett - som tilfeldigvis dukket opp i studio mens bandet drev med miksingen av nevnte låt. To av sangene, «Welcome to the Machine» og «Have a Cigar» var sterk kritikk av musikkbransjen og forteller blant annet om kyniske og ignorante ledere i plateselskapene. Albumet har solgt over 13 millioner enheter på verdensbasis, men analyser fra ChartMasters anslår det totale salget til 22,3 millioner enheter[1]. Dette gjør albumet til det 37. mest solgte studioalbum gjennom tidene. I 1998 stemte leserne av Q magazine Wish You Were Here til det 34. beste albumet gjennom tidene. I 2003 kom albumet på 209.-plass på musikkmagasinet Rolling Stones liste over de 500 beste albumene gjennom tidene, til tross for at magasinets opprinnelige albumanmeldelse i 1975 ikke på langt nær var like positiv. Magasinets journalist Ben Edmonds skrev 6. november 1975 at albumet og bandet manglet følelse: «Passion is everything of which Pink Floyd is devoid». First issue. Released with the cover hidden under black shrink wrap with a round Wish You Were Here sticker on the outside of the shrink wrap. Spine is narrow (pinched) at the top and bottom and wide in the middle on some covers, and uniformed on others (like all spines). Issued with lyrics on a die cut inner sleeve and a glossy postcard, with jagged edges, of a diving man. On label side 1, Shine On You Crazy Diamond Part 5 is credited to "Waters-Gilmour-Wright" (later have "Waters" only). - Issue with matrix variant A-1 B-3 comes with die cut inner sleeve with the top two corners and bottom left corner cropped at an angle (looking from the red veil blowing in the wind side, see pic). Opening on the top back with a nine inch notch in the center where the record is inserted. - Issue with matrix variant A-1 B-5 comes with die cut inner sleeve with the top two corners and bottom right corner cropped at an angle (looking from the red veil blowing in the wind side). Opening at top center front with notch. - Issue with matrix variant A-1 B-7 comes with die cut inner sleeve with all four corners cropped at an angle. Opening at top center with notch.
