Edition: A total of 1,000 hand-numbered white vinyl pieces for this initial run, and included a very special sheet music insert to standout track “The Beekeeper,” transcribed for piano and vocal arrangement. We’re very excited to announce that on April 19th, in conjunction with Record Store Day 2014, Doomtree Records will release Dessa’s critically acclaimed 2011 full-length Castor, The Twin on vinyl for the first time ever! Castor, The Twin is an 11-song project that was recorded entirely with live players for a somber, elegant, and organic effect. Ten of the songs have been previously released on other Doomtree projects; the eleventh is the chilling and beautiful advance single from Dessa’s next full-length, due 2012. On Castor, The Twin, original Doomtree production from Paper Tiger, Lazerbeak, Marshall Larada, and Cecil Otter is reinterpreted on vibraphone, grand piano, viola, mandolin, stand-up bass, and timpani. The album was conceived during Dessa’s Into The Spin Tour—the first tour she’d done with her live trio (Sean McPherson, Dustin Kiel, and Joey Van Phillips). Audiences responded so well to their inventive re-arrangements, and the nuance of their performances, that the new treatments seemed to warrant capturing. ~Dessa's vocals recorded at: The Birdcage. Cover has Dessa's eyes closed, as opposed to the original release. Her eyes were open on the CD and digital versions.
