Additional Information

Comments The album's original UK version, which arrived in British stores five months after the American release. Features the controversial "dress cover." For USA release in a different ‘cartoon’ cover see [r=710468].

This is the first issue with the misspelt "Tonny Visconti" on the labels. Mercury corrected this and later UK Mercury copies state "Tony Visconti".

Note that several counterfeits have been made of this record over the years. Quickest and easiest way to tell is that if it does not have machine stamped matrices in the A and B side run outs then it is not genuine. In addition, one version does not even go to the trouble of faking the black Mercury centre labels but instead has yellow ones without the Mercury logo. You can also tell some counterfeits because the front image is cropped so that Bowie's boot is right at the cover's edge, unlike the image here.
