Stereo Orthophonic High Fidelity Recording Adapted from the play "South Pacific" by Richard Rodgers, Oscar Hammerstein, II and Joshua Logan. Based on "Tales Of The South Pacific" by James A. Michener. Originally produced on the Stage by Richard Rodgers, Oscar Hammerstein, II, Leland Hayward and Joshua Logan. The 1958 film starred Rossano Brazzi and Mitzi Gaynor in the leading roles. Notes not provided on release: Juanita Hall plays the part of Bloody Mary, the same role she had played in the original stage production. Juanita Hall had her singing dubbed for the film version, by Muriel Smith. John Kerr as Lt. Cable, his voice was dubbed by Bill Lee. Ken Clark, who played Stewpot, was dubbed by Thurl Ravenscroft. Mitzi Gaynor and Ray Walston, both noted Broadway musical actors, were the only principal cast members whose own singing voices were used. |
