1967 releases have the prefix 45- rather than the 5N- from the 1970's. The initial American release of 45-85023 reads 4:26 and has the matrix #DR 41553. (There is also a 4:20 version with the same record number but matrix #ZDR 41553.) The record was too long for AM radio programmers at the time, so a shortened version with a truncated second verse, clocking 3:06 was produced, still with the record number 45-85023 but with the matrix #DR 41553-3. The original 4:26 version is the same as the album version minus the orchestra and closing poem. PolyGram later released a 4:25 version with record number 5N-85023. |
