The Walking Cane Fiddle Is A Unique And Rare Instrument. It Was Brought From Ireland To Canada By Immigrants To The Antigonish, N.S. Area Area In The Mid Nineteenth Century. Cye Steele Heard Of Its Existence Twenty Years Ago And Finally Traced It To New Glasgow Where He Added It To His Collection. It Is Still In Playable Condition And Repeats Its Original Use- It Is A Walking Cane And When The Occasion Arises And Music Is The Order Of The Day The Back Is Taken Off And The Cane Becomes A Fiddle- The Fiddler always Has A fiddle At Hand |
